With the recent developments in my country as it regards to the corona pandemic ,it has steadily risen day after day despite the efforts of the government .This is due to a number of factors which include the ignorance of the masses and the lack of resources available in the form of masks and sanitisers as well as gloves in adequate supply. The government has been busy holding news conferences and budget debates and the speed at which this virus has been spreading the prime minister has been forced in his view to order a nationwide lockdown in the form of a curfew from 8 pm to 6 am for the next two weeks or until the situation is under some level of control .Currently there are 53 cases and 3 deaths there is at least one area under some level of general quarantine and some areas are fairly quiet based on the type of community. In a number of corporate areas a lot of individuals refuse to take the virus as what it is and go with their own concoction of a answer ,also transiting from place to place running errands and behaving as if the conditions of life have not changed .This i view may help in increasing the cases we already have dealing with , financially there is a very real fear of food shortage with good reason and other valuable and needed resources , which could put any nation on the edge if not in a civil war or anarchy. The efforts of the leaders so far have made a lot of people sleep a bit easier however there still remains the long term sustainability in which neither in the area of food or finance has there been any real growth or sovereignty. This time is as much a test for our leaders as it is for us as people of the third world where we are generally left on our own by our leaders until needed ,the level of preparedness that the government possessed was based on the info they had and the resources which were already in stock which was not a lot in both cases ,from my observation there are but a few people in government if at all who have a clue as to what this virus is ,what it does and how it is transmitted from one person to the next .The most evident evidence of this is the consistency in solutions put forward by these same governments and their own vulnerability to the virus. There is a lot that has not been explained which i suspect will be done at a later date ,in the present however the in ability of people to actually keep a safe enough distance as well as not touching on public surfaces is a very hard task for individuals to follow as from my observation some of us are unable to be alone even if it means putting ourself and others we say we love in danger ,based on how jamaicans interact unless the government plans to enact a island wide shutdown of all activities there will be more cases to be dealt with in the coming days or weeks as normal jamaican life is very social compared to first world countries .
